Using other libraries

British Library

A good way to consult materials not held at London Met is to visit the British Library. The British Library has a number of e-resources available for use in their reading rooms, as well as the traditional printed materials.

The British Library is continuing to experience a major technology outage as a result of a cyber-attack.

Their Reading Rooms in London and Yorkshire are open, but access to the collection and online resources is limited.

Please see what is currently available and search their catalogue.

Other university libraries

There will be times that you will need to visit other UK libraries as part of your research, whether it is to consult their printed materials or to use a library that is physically closer to where you live. Please check our guidance on using the SCONUL Access scheme to visit other libraries.

Access25 offers access to scholarly and specialist libraries not included in the SCONUL Access scheme. See the list of institutions in the Access25 scheme. The scheme is open to postgraduate research students and staff from M25 member institutions.

Please also see the Library’s Subject guides for information about other specialist libraries in your subject area.

Theses and Dissertations

The main UK source for doctoral theses is EThOS, from the British Library (due to the recent cyber attack, this may not be available online). Please see Theses and open access repositories for detailed information on finding UK and international theses.
