In the modern digital age our devices can pull away our time and our focus. Different apps always being open in the background means we can be bombarded with multiple pop ups and notifications for things demanding our time. Here are some top tips for banishing the digital distractions.
Browser reader functions- lose the clutter
Immersive Reader is a great feature of Microsoft Edge web browser. It allows you to get rid of any clutter on a webpage (adverts!) and focus only on the words. It provides a read aloud option. Similarly if you use Firefox, there is Reader View and for Chrome there is Reading mode.
Focus mode
Phones and laptops will often have a feature that will allow you to temporarily silence notifications. Get into the habit of using these during your study time.
Wind-down before bed
There is lots of research about the effect of staring at our devices before bedtime and the negative effect that has on sleep patterns and health. It's a good idea to put down your devices for the night at least 30 minutes before bedtime, easier said than done, right? Try using bedtime features on your phone if you need some help.
