February saw the release of a new film about British photographer Martin Parr, 'I am Martin Parr'. As there have been a few articles highlighting his work, we thought we would also highlight his archive The Martin Parr Foundation. The foundation is a gallery, library and archive based in Bristol which support photographers that focus on Britain and Ireland.
For students studying photography, art, or media, the Martin Parr Foundation serves is an invaluable resource you can make use of. The Foundation houses an extensive collection of photographs, including works by Martin Parr himself, as well as other influential photographers. Many of the works can be viewed online, including a selection of video interviews with different photographers, including Jem Southam and Karen Knorr, so no need to go to Bristol!
If you can get to Bristol, regular talks, exhibitions and events are held at the Foundation, all valuable resources for your studies.
If you are interested in the work of Martin Parr himself, we have a great selection of books in Aldgate library, which you can find by searching the library catalogue, as well as a copy of his Guardian cities project in Special Collection's Artist Book Collection.
