Borrow or Request

Borrow or Request

At the library we have a huge range of books, e-books and journal articles to support your learning.  You can use Library Search to locate the items you need.  If you can't find what you need in our libraries, you can request it, whether you are student or staff.

Staff and students can borrow up to 20 items.

Borrowing using the library self-service machines is easy, all you need is your university ID card.  Watch our video to learn how to borrow.

âš  You can't borrow journals, PhD theses and items marked as Reference Only; these are just for reading in the library.

They will stop renewing automatically if:

  • They have been reserved by someone else

  • The item is already overdue

  • Your account is blocked because you have a very overdue item issued to you

  • Your fine has reached £20

  • They have been renewed 99 times

So make sure you always check your London Met email address for notifications about your loans

You can also check your loans and renew yourself when you login to your account via Library Search.

âš  Avoid fines- make sure you return reserved items immediately.

You can reserve items that are out on loan or available at another campus:

  1. Search for the item you want and click 'Reserve'.

Record of a book on Library Search. It says there are no loanable copies. There is a red reserve button next to it.

        2. Enter your London Met username and password.

        3. Select the campus library you wish to collect the item from.

        4. You will receive an email when the item is ready to collect.

        5. Pick up the item from the reservation shelves on ground floor of both libraries and check out on the self-service machine.

Help: I don't know how to search for books!
